Orienteering CompetitionOctober 9th, 2018
Our second Orienteering competition took place at Stubbers Adventure Centre on Tuesday 9th October with both primary and secondary schools invited to bring teams of year 6 and year 8 children. We had our biggest turn out with nearly 200 children taking part. It was a beautiful sunny day and after a briefing all participants were eager to start with a training session from the Stubbers staff before they took to the courses designed by Josh Jenner, orienteering coach. The courses really tested the student’s map reading skills as well as their ability to run around undulating terrain at Stubbers.
With such perfect conditions it was inevitable that both the primary and secondary course records would be broken with minutes being shaved off last year’s times. Winners of the primary competition were Sara and Luke from Upminster Junior. Secondary winners were Charlie and Joe from Emerson Park Academy.
